Cosy with Curvissa

I was contacted recently by the lovelies at Curvissa who asked if i wanted to do a coat review with a few other bloggers, I'm always on the look out for something cute to keep me warm especially with all this cold weather we are having at the minute so i said yes and was sent this beauty to review.

I got this coat on Monday night and wore it the next day to work, i was so glad of it too as it was absolutely freezing outside and it kept me lovely and warm! Sorry for the quality of the pictures they were taken on my phone during my break at work as i wanted to show you the coat in daylight and i seem to be leaving home and returning in the dark at the minute.

 how beautiful is this coat?!
This beauty is available here
This coat is amazing I'm in love with it already and i can see it becoming my go to coat this winter. I went with a size 20 as i have had a few pieces from Curvissa in the past and find the sizing to be generous, so my advise would be to size down in this coat. The coat comes to my knees so its a really good length, i have a few faux fur jackets but i find my bum does get a bit chilly in this weather without any coverage!

The coat fastens with 3 hook and eyes and a button at the very top, i did find when i sat down they did come undone a few times but this might have been me rushing to fasten in on my way outside. The faux fur is really soft and quite thick and the arms are the perfect length for me as i tend to find with most coats i have lots of material left at the arm and they swamp my hands.

As you can see i can fasten up the coat with no issues or gaping and it was very cosy and comfortable to wear. This is available in either leopard print or black faux fur, it is priced from £140 but it is defiantly worth the money, the fur is soft and none of it has come off which has happened to a few of my faux fur jackets in the past. I'm totally in love with this coat its just perfect and something i will wear over and over again for lots of winters to come.
Check out the other ladies getting involved too,

XOXO

Taking Shape

I came home last week to a lovely package from Taking Shape full of amazing pieces, so I'm going to show you them over the next week or so.

For those of you who haven't heard of Taking Shape they are an Australian based brand who are just starting out here in the UK. They are currently opening stores around the country and have a UK website
Before I was contacted by them I hadn't heard of the brand but I'm glad they got in touch as they have so much to offer and it's always good to see a new plus size brand, well new to the UK as it's been running for 28 years so they have plenty of experience! I was sent a few items to review but rather than cram them all into one post I wanted to split them up so you can see everything at it's best.
First up is this gorgeous red Portland coat.

PB034991

I really love this coat, it going to be perfect for the cold and snowy winter. It's quite a heavy coat when you pick it up but not so much when your wearing it. It has a hood so no wet and running hair for me! And it has press studs as well as the toggle fastening.

PB034994
The hood isn't this high but my bun is making it look huge!
This coat is really warm and it will be my go to on super cold days as it's just like being back under the duvet!

PB034993

I was sent this coat in a 22 and I have to say the fit is spot on, I can fasten the coat up without any gapes or pulling which usually happens to me. Its even got a cute check lining so its super soft inside too.

PB034999

This is a really lovely coat and you can tell it has been made well too so it will last you several winters.
Check out the Taking Shape website  there is plenty of different styles on there so have a good browse through I'm sure you will find something you like. And if you like to go in store to do your shopping check out the store locator to see if there is one near you.

Everyone Loves A Parka

PHow is it Monday morning already ?! I hope you have all had a great weekend mine has been filled with fun, friends and maybe a little bit of shopping.
I was contacted last week and asked if i wanted to review a coat for Simply Be, i had a long browse through the site and found quite a few coats that i liked but i decided to go for something that i have always loved from afar but never thought wold suit me.
I decided to go for a parka and chose this one in khaki but you can get it in blue too. I went for the khaki as i saw it as a more traditional parka style. I was a little worried that it maybe wouldn't suit me but i shouldn't have as soon as i put it on i fell in love.

PA064897

The coat is quite light weight but is quilted inside so keeps you lovely and warm and there is also fur lining the hood and half way down the front under the zip area. I went for a size 22 which is my usual size and the fit is perfect, there is enough room for a jumper underneath.
I wanted to show you the coat with more than one outfit so i added it to my denim shorts and tshirt, i would wear this open when i needed something that would keep me a little warmer than just a a cardigan and it has a hood which is perfect for me as my hair will run in the rain!

PA064902

The coat comes down past my bum and is really comfy to wear, it has pockets that fasten with studs and a drawstring on the waist so you can create a waist if you wish. I had left mine loose as i like the look of the coat that way.

PA064910

For the second outfit i added my new boots, which i am so in love with and will be in a post later this week, my squirrel tunic and leggings.
I think the parka loves amazing with these boots and i didn't actually want to take this off, the hubby commented on how nice my outfit was too.

PA064908

I seriously don't have a bad word to say about this coat, it is perfect! Once the colder weather sets in i will be getting so much use out of this coat, although i love my faux fur sometime i need something a bit less bear like and i most definitely need a hood for when it rains or my face will turn purple!
If you want to get your hands on the perfect parka then you can get it here.

A Chilly Spring

The weather in the UK has been awful these past few months and when we all thought it was time to pack away out winter coats along comes more snow and freezing winds!
I have a lot of faux fur coats but only one of the non furry kind so when i was contacted by Dan from Be Inspired to ask if i wanted to try a coat i jumped at the chance.
I decided to go with a beautiful black and purple double breasted coat, the description said animal print, but its quite a muted animal print so its not as in your face.

I chose this coat because i loved the colours and it was advertised as a soft touch wool mix so i hoped it would be soft and snuggly and i wasn't disappointed!
This coat is so soft its lovely to feel and had a nice black lining. It is perfect for all the rubbish weather we seem to be having at the minute.

P1014044

This coat is a great length and comes to mid thigh on me, it has button fastening to the front and it also came with a black belt if you want to give it a more defined shape. I would never usually belt a coat but i really like how this one looks belted.

P1014048

I was sent this coat in a size 24 i asked for a size above my usual because i always have a problem with fastening coats around my boobs but this one had loads of room and i really didn't need to size up. The arms on the coat were a little long for me but this may have been due to me sizing up as well as the fact i seem to have tiny arms!

P1014049

You can get this coat here for £18.99 that's an amazing price if you ask me I've seen coats a lot more expensive than this and much lower quality. This coat is defiantly worth its money and more, its really well made and you can tell it will last a good few winters or if the weather carries on maybe summers too.

P1014050

I wore the dress with my asos body con you saw in Mondays post, and black tights and heels. I also added the little cat brooch which my hubby bought me a few years ago.
I had never heard of Be Inspired before they contacted me but I'm so glad they did because i know where I'll be looking the next time a need a cute coat or jacket.
Here are a few of my favourites from the site

I love this spot print coat this one only goes up to a 20 but might fit a 22/24 depending on if you wanted to close it and only £19.99.

This coat is really classic and i love the faux fur collar again £19.99 and up to a size 24.

My final pick is this coat which is £24.99 in sizes 24-28.
Take a look at the website I'm sure you'll find something that you like and its free Uk delivery too.
Have to have to keep your winter coat out?

It's cold outside

Last night me and the hubby went to see the late night showing of Silent Hill. I wanted to be comfy and warm as i always find the cinema to be chilly so i decided to wear my Evans collection faux fur coat. I bought this in the summer when it was really warm, i was thinking ahead and needed to add a black faux fur coat to my collection. I bought it in the sale and it was £25 reduced from £120! so it was a great bargain.

P1013177

The coat did come with a belt but it was broken but as the coat keeps you really warm you don't really need to close it but there are hooks if you did want to. I got the coat in a size 20 as it was the last one left and if fits great. The coat is really think and snug and i was all wrapped up in it while watching the film.
I wore my ruby rocks dress from ages ago last seen here, and my trusty Tesco leggings, i was really comfy and didn't get cold once, i felt like i had my duvet wrapped around me.

Silly late night faces!
How do you feel about faux furs do you have any?
Hope your having a great weekend

A first time for everything

This is the outfit i wore to go shopping at the weekend. Most of the outfit you will have seen before in previous posts but as it's getting chillier i added a coat one that you haven't seen before. In fact i think this is the first time on the blog that I've worn a coat, i tend to get very warm so i tend to only break the coats out in really cold weather.

This however is a very special coat i love every single thing about it. The coat is from the first Clements Ribeiro collection at Evans. It was a very pricey coat for me at least, i paid £99 for the coat only for it to go down to £25 four weeks later. I'm sure you've all had this happen at one time or another but it's so frustrating when it does. I love the coat though so that made me feel better.
The coat is a size 20 and doesn't have any buttons or fastenings, as I've said i find i get too warm in coats most of the time so i usually wear them open anyway. It also has 3/4 sleeves but i must have short arms because they are almost full length on me. It also has pocks so you can keep your hands warm too.

P1013068

I wore my polka dot New look dress with i posted about here and my Matalan bag which you have also seen here. I added my pink poodle brooch which i made myself to the collar and i was good to go.

P1013071

P1013083

The coat kept the wind and the chill in the air away and it was really comfy to wear. I really love this coat so will definitely be wearing it more as the weather gets colder. I also managed to get a picture of the hubby looking all beardy.

Have you had to break out your winter coat yet?
I hope you all have a great week and thanks for reading :)
