Dolly and Dotty

Its been a while since I've updated on here, with work being busy and the horrible weather its been really hard to get outfit pictures!
I was contacted recently by the lovely guys over at Dolly and Dotty who asked if i wanted to review one of their lovely dresses. They have dresses in a size 6-24 with lots of colours and styles to choose from. I went with the Cindy Sassy Swing dress in teal.

I was sent this in a size 22 which was a little big but i think it might have been a little tight if I'd have sized down. However if you have a smaller bust then i would say you could size down in this style. I love the colour of of this dress its a beautiful deep blue/green and it looks amazing on.

I really love the boat neck and the dipped back of the dress which adds a really cute touch to this dress. It came with a white fabric belt but i changed this for my leopard print one and i really love how looks. This dress has a great skirt area and would look great with a petticoat underneath to give it some extra volume.

Dolly and Dotty was a company i hadn't heard of before the got in contact but would be my go to place for a cute vintage style dress and they have really affordable prices too. Go check them out if like me you haven't heard of this great company before.

I hope your all having a great December!

Beauty Haul

Superdrug and Boots have had a 3for2 offer on make up recently so i went a bit wild last weekend and got myself a few goodies!
As always the majority of my haul was lipstick because lets face you can't have enough can you ??
From Superdrug i got 2 of their own brand face masks as i find them really good and i prefer them in tubes rather than sachets so that i can just use what i need, i always seem to throw loads away when i get the sachets.

I also picked up a Barry M liner, some mascara and my favourite product ever Loreal studio secrets base, i hardly ever use anything on my face but when i go out i i use this on my face and its all i ever need.

I picked up 3 lipsticks One of a kind and Under my spell from Rimmel and Rose royale from Loreal

From Boots i picked up the Revlon prime and anti-shine to try as an alternative to my studio secrets base, and 2 of the matte balms. I love these balms as they don't dry your lips but have a really good matte finish. I got these in striking spectacular which is a lovely coral colour and passionate a really nice purple pink.

I also got a few Revlon lipsticks to try, they are Black cherry, Va va violet and Berry couture. I loved the colours the first to look very similar in these picture but they are noticeably different in real life.

While i was out i also popped into Asda and picked up this lovely stag print shirt.

Driving Miss Daisy

Hey everyone its been a while hasn't it ?! Well while I've been away I've passed my driving test on my first attempt i couldn't believe it!
I started learning in late June and passed on the 30th September with only 4 minors, i was super nervous on the day and couldn't stop my leg shaking but i did it. I'm now really learning to drive and trying to get my confidence up on the motorway and roads i don't know. Its so much easier to get to work now that i don't have to try to wait for the hubby or arrive hours before my shift due to busses.

So that's my news what have you all been up to?

Junarose Stripes

I had a bit of a shopping spree recently and found myself on the Simply Be website they had a really good sale on and i had a discount code to use too so i wanted to try something new. I spotted this striped dress which isn't something i would usually wear as there isn't really any shape to it and i don't usually wear stripes, not because it don't like them i just always get drawn it by brighter bolder prints.

This dress is down to £13 in the sale which is a total bargain. I love this dress so much its so different to what i wear usually but i love that. I went with a size L which is a 18/20 as it advised online to size down but i think if you want an over sized look you should go for your usual size.

This dress does have a lot of stretch but is made from a thickish material so its really comfortable to wear and i think it will keep its shape too. I love the cuffs on the dress they can be folded over to show the denim inside which i think is a really cute detail.

I wore this last week to pop to Meadowhall and pick up a few bits i needed from Primark, i added my leopard print trainers and this cute hair bobble i found while i was cleaning a few weeks ago and i was good to go!
I got quite a few more bits from the Simply Be sale so i will be showing these soon.

You Beauty

I never got around to reviewing my last You Beauty box so its nearly time for next months! I wasn't wowed by last months selections here is what i got,
My first selection was the Stilla eyeliner this is supposed to be full sized however the pencil doesn't twist so in actual fact i only have about 3mm of liner i can use! I don't know if its a faulty product but with a RRP of £14 i expect better quality. This is not something i would buy again.

My second selection was Philosophy 3in1 cleanser again I'm not overly impressed with this. It claims to be fragrance free but i think it has a really strong smell and i wouldn't feel comfortable using this on my eyes like it recommends. I used this on my face but made sure i kept it away from my eyes, it did work on my face but i didn't find it better than another other cleaner i have used.

My free samples this month were the first chapter of The Mortal Instruments and a sachet of Sienna X gradual tan. I haven't read the book as its not really my thing and the sachet of tan isn't big enough for me to do my whole body and i don't want to be different shades!

I'm hoping that Septembers box will bring a much better selection.

Life recently

Things have been a little quite over here, i have been busy learning to drive at the grand age of 28 and i have recently got a secondment at work for a new job as well as having building work done and having a poorly kitty. All of this has stacked up and i feel like i haven't had the time to blog. I still manage to odd twitter rant and there is always time for a selfie on Instagram.

Her are a few pics of what I've been up to the last month or so.

Looking cute for my interview, the jacket was from the Evans sale and the dress is a super old Asos one.

Here is what I've been buying, everything apart from the striped bardot dress fitted amazingly and now has a new home in my wardrobes.

Making brownies for work, these were so good !

My Charlotte Tilbury lipstick came and its just as beautiful as i had imagined.

Me and the Mr went for a day trip to Leeds as i needed a few bits from IKEA, which has just resulted in stress but I'll leave that for another day!

I was so proud i put my flat pack storage up myself and look how cute it is!

Marvin has been poorly recently he has a problem with his bladder which blocked and could have been fatal if we hadn't got him don to the vets in time. He is feeling a bit better now and taking all his tablets like a champ.

What have you been up to while I've been away?

Elomi lingerie

I was contacted recently by the lovelies at Elomi and asked if I would like to review an underwear set for the blog. I'm always on the look out for cute new sets so I happily accepted and was sent this set. Please excuse the filter on these picture its was really dark and dismal day so i have tried to lighten them up a little.

The bra is a 40G and fits well around the back and shoulders and the centre of the bra is flush against my chest. This is probably one of the only well fitting bras I own as I tend to prefer a more in your face cleavage! The print on this set is super cute and summery.

I don't think I have ever had a bra as well made as this, you can really tell that it's going to last and the wire isn't going to be stabbing you in 2 weeks time.
The knickers in the set are a little too small for me and are a 4xl (22) which is the biggest size they do. They come up pretty high but I like to wear high waisted knickers when I'm wearing something fitted because mine always seem to slip down and I end up having to pull them up and my dress ends up getting pulled up too.

The bra is £36 and the knickers £20  I have paid this much for an underwear set before but for some it might be a little pricey.

I really do think Elomi make exceptional underwear and you can really feel the quality of each piece.
Elomi have been nominated for best lingerie brand at the Plus Size Awards this year so go and give them a vote here and show the love!

Birthdays in Blackpool

Last weekend me and Lisa went to Blackpool to celebrate her birthday which was lots of fun. I didn't take any proper pictures as i was far too busy dancing most of the time ! but i did take a few photos on my phone that i thought i would share with you.

On Friday morning i decided i wanted something comfy to travel in so i chose my Ax Paris maxi dress and Simply Be denim jacket. I wanted something i could layer up if it was chilly by the sea but that would keep me cool in the car journey.

Brett kindly drove up to Blackpool and we went for fish and chips and a walk by the sea but it was so windy we didn't last long but of course we managed a picture!

We checked into the hotel and started to celebrate with a bottle of wine my mum had given me. I didn't get any pictures of my full outfit but i wore some black New Look shorts and a black and white shirt i got from Evans bout 2 years ago. The shirt is perfect as its a swing style and pretty long so i just wear it like a dress.

Kerry and her bestie came down for the evening so we all went out together and had a great time. We danced for hours and there was lots of laughter!

At the end of the night i decided Lisa needed to open her birthday presents while i took a selfie with my date for the evening Pizza!

Saturday day when Lisa had started to feel more alive after her hangover we went for a walk around the shops and we found Iron Man and a princess castle to pose in so we were happy!

Saturday night i wore my BooHoo bodysuit and Forever21+ velvet skater skirt, it was a little chilly that night so i was glad for the extra warmth on my arms but a few hours later i was boiling after dancing my bum off on the dance floor!

And here is me and the birthday girl getting old now just like me!

You Beauty

This months You Beauty box choices were made in a bit of a rush as I didn't receive my sneak peak email that usually sent a few days before you make you selection. I was a bit disappointed about not getting my preview email as I like to have a look into what's available and a few reviews and pick based on that.

My first choice was Oriflame protecting balm, I'm always on the look out for new lip balms and the fact you can use this for other dry skin areas sold it to me. I have used this as a lip balm and it worked really well it felt very moisturising and didn't dry my lips out like some balms. This is a full size product which retails at £8 and I do think it's worth the money as it's something you can pop in your handbag and use it whenever you need to restore some softness to your skin.

My second choice was Hairy Jayne Curtis hair perfume. I was really excited to try this as I like to refresh my hair but I'm not the biggest fan of dry shampoo so this is a nice alternative. I'm really pleased with this the citrus smell is really nice and it did freshen up my hair without drying it out. This was a 30ml product the full size is 50ml and retails at £12. This is something I would buy again and I look forward to trying out the different fragrances.

My extra treats this month were a muesli oatcake which has raisin in so its not something that I will eat as I hate raisins but I'm sure someone at work will enjoy it! The second extra was a sachet of Emma Hardy protect and prime I'm really excited to use this but I am going to wait to use it before I go out as it acts as a moisturiser and primer in one.

Lastly there was 50ml of the new ST Tropez in shower gradual tan, I'm not sure if this will ever get used but it's a really good extra as I know many people will use this.

Jewel Street

I was contacted recently by Jewel Street and asked to review their site and a piece of jewellery from it.  The site was really easy to use and there are plenty of designers to choose from, there really is something for everyone on there! It took me quite a while to decide which piece to choose but I was able to narrow it down by designer and by type of jewellery so I could see everything available to me.

The site has jewellery to suit every pocket from affordable pieces to high end expensive ones all as beautiful and well thought out as each other. I finally made my decision and went with the Aquarius rose gold necklace from Astrid & Miyu. It is a really beautiful necklace and it features my birthstone too which I thought was a lovely touch.

Unfortunately the necklace is too small for me to wear comfortably as I like them loose. The necklace didn't have the length in the description so I didn't know it wouldn't fit which is a little disappointing. I'm sure if you contacted the boutique about an item they could give measurements and maybe even increase or decrease the length for you. It's worth asking before you buy to avoid any disappointment.

The necklace itself is beautiful, it's a simple necklace that will go well with everything you wear. The rose gold and amethyst go so well together and the colour really pops against your skin.

Overall my experience with Jewel Street was a good one and although the necklace didn't fit I will know next time to get the measurements for an item before I order it. They even send a polishing cloth and a ring sizer which i thought was fabulous as i never know what size ring i am.
If your looking for a treat for yourself or someone special then Jewel Street is the perfect place to look.
