You Beauty

I never got around to reviewing my last You Beauty box so its nearly time for next months! I wasn't wowed by last months selections here is what i got,
My first selection was the Stilla eyeliner this is supposed to be full sized however the pencil doesn't twist so in actual fact i only have about 3mm of liner i can use! I don't know if its a faulty product but with a RRP of £14 i expect better quality. This is not something i would buy again.

My second selection was Philosophy 3in1 cleanser again I'm not overly impressed with this. It claims to be fragrance free but i think it has a really strong smell and i wouldn't feel comfortable using this on my eyes like it recommends. I used this on my face but made sure i kept it away from my eyes, it did work on my face but i didn't find it better than another other cleaner i have used.

My free samples this month were the first chapter of The Mortal Instruments and a sachet of Sienna X gradual tan. I haven't read the book as its not really my thing and the sachet of tan isn't big enough for me to do my whole body and i don't want to be different shades!

I'm hoping that Septembers box will bring a much better selection.

You Beauty

This months You Beauty box choices were made in a bit of a rush as I didn't receive my sneak peak email that usually sent a few days before you make you selection. I was a bit disappointed about not getting my preview email as I like to have a look into what's available and a few reviews and pick based on that.

My first choice was Oriflame protecting balm, I'm always on the look out for new lip balms and the fact you can use this for other dry skin areas sold it to me. I have used this as a lip balm and it worked really well it felt very moisturising and didn't dry my lips out like some balms. This is a full size product which retails at £8 and I do think it's worth the money as it's something you can pop in your handbag and use it whenever you need to restore some softness to your skin.

My second choice was Hairy Jayne Curtis hair perfume. I was really excited to try this as I like to refresh my hair but I'm not the biggest fan of dry shampoo so this is a nice alternative. I'm really pleased with this the citrus smell is really nice and it did freshen up my hair without drying it out. This was a 30ml product the full size is 50ml and retails at £12. This is something I would buy again and I look forward to trying out the different fragrances.

My extra treats this month were a muesli oatcake which has raisin in so its not something that I will eat as I hate raisins but I'm sure someone at work will enjoy it! The second extra was a sachet of Emma Hardy protect and prime I'm really excited to use this but I am going to wait to use it before I go out as it acts as a moisturiser and primer in one.

Lastly there was 50ml of the new ST Tropez in shower gradual tan, I'm not sure if this will ever get used but it's a really good extra as I know many people will use this.

You Beauty

This months you beauty box has arrived and I was pretty happy with the options this month.
There were a few bits that I wouldn't use but still enough left for me to have to narrow it down to two choices.
My first choice was the Inika face primer(10ml), I love a good primer and it's the only thing I wear on my face when I'm going out so I like to try different ones as my favourite is quite pricey. This one goes on well and leaves your skin really smooth but it does have a pretty strong almost lemony smell which I'm not a fan of. If I'm putting something in my face I don't want it to have an overpowering smell so for that reason I probably wouldn't buy this item.

My second choice was the Exuviance triple microdermabrasion face polish(10g), i think this is a good face wash to use once or twice a week but it didn't wow me and i can't really see any reason for the full size product to be so expensive (around £55) my face felt the same after i had used it as it does after using a £3 face scrub. This is not something i would buy myself i think i will just stick with the cheaper face scrubs as for me they work just as well.

My added extras this month were Urban Fruit smashing strawberry, i hate dried fruit with a passion i see no reason for its existence and  avoid it like the plague but in the interest of trying something new i attempted to eat one of these, i failed. It was just as bad if not worse than i had imagined the texture was awful and it although its real strawberry i couldn't stand the taste. This is not something i will buying.

My other added extras were a Good To Go Anywhere 3 pack which included a dry tissue, a sanitising tissue and a wet wipe. I have had these in my bag just in case i need to use them, they are a great idea and something i would consider buying myself. My last added extra was 2 Clipper tea bags, one green tea and the other a red fruits tea, these are good just to take to put in my desk at work for times when i don't fancy a black tea.

Although i wouldn't repurchase my choices this month i am still happy with the box and glad i got to try something new. I still think that the You Beauty box is the best one around that gives you value for money and items you actually want to try.

Glamour Spring Beaty Edit

This month i treated myself to the Latest in Beauty Glamour box I've had these before and i find they always include great products for a great price. This box was £16.99 with free p&p, now i did have some issues with this as they had sent me a discount code which i used but it then added p&p on top and made the box more expensive than i would have been without a discount code. I did phone the helpline but being honest i found they very unhelpful and a little abrupt. I emailed and tweeted then and they refunded me the difference which was great but I'm still confused how adding a discount code can make something more expensive!

So what do you get inside the box....
First up in the box is the Moroccanoil hydrating hair mask. This is a full size product at 75ml and i have found this online for £9 so for me its a higher end hair treatment than i usually use but i can't wait to give it a try.

Next was the Nuxe Crème Fraiche de Beauté Mask, this retails on their website at £18.50. I tried this straight away as my face can get very dry and i had read good things about this however at first it didn't seem to work for me. I found it seemed to lump up on my skin and rub into clumps. However i tried it again a few days later and had a much better experience with it, it massaged in well and left my skin soft and smooth.

Also included was the Revlon colour stay gel envy nail polish and diamond top coat.I hadn't seen these before so i was excited to try them. I was sent the shade full house which is a lovely pale blue. I needed to re paint my nails so decided to give this a try and i wish i hadn't it was streaky and after in had dried it only lasted about 30 minutes before it smudged and chipped, then in the evening when i had my hands in water is started to peel away from my nail. I took it off less than 24 hours after i had put it on and it had already stained my nails! If you want my advise don't waste your money on this.

A product i was certain i wouldn't use was the Beautyuk brow kit. I have never used anything on my brows before but when this came i thought i might as well give it a try. And although i felt like i resembled Helga from Hey Arnold! once I'd used this it was really easy to use and with practise i think this is something that i could use in the future. The is only £3.99 which is a great price for the product.

I was really excited to try this next product as it claims to be a non sticky gloss. The Rimmel Oh My Gloss lip gloss claims to be a non-sticky and lightweight formula which i couldn't disagree more with! I love the look of gloss but i hate the sticky finish you get with it, i tried this straight away hoping for a non sticky gloss but it failed me. This shade is twinkle twinkle and it looked really nice on however it was super sticky and that is just a massive no no for me.

Another product i was keen to try was the Model Co cheek and lip rouge in Just Peachy. I really love this it goes on your cheeks really well and you can build it up well on your lips too. It looks quite dark however its much lighter when you use it. I have tried it on my cheeks and lips and i think i will get just as much use out of it for my cheeks as i will for my lips. Its a beautiful light peach colour on your lips with is perfect for everyday wear.

The last full sized item in the box was the Kiko long lasting stick eyeshadow which i was sent in shade 05. I didn't use this as an eyeshadow but instead as a liner and it worked really well and the colour goes really well with my eye colour. Its super soft and easy to apply too.

Lastly i received a sample of L'Eau Couture by Elie Saab. This isn't my favourite fragrance as its a bit too floral for my liking but I'm sure the sample will get used up pretty soon anyway.

This box is definitely worth its money and it gives you a great chance to try some new products or ones you wouldn't usually buy for yourself.

You Beauty

I know in my last two You Beauty posts i haven't been wowed by the selection of options available but this month has more than made up for that! There was so much to choose from this month but there were two stand out products for me.

My first choice was the Illamasqua lipstick in Sangers. I really liked the fact that you knew what shade this would be, as far too many times I've opted for a lipstick only to receive a beige toned one which i never use. For me i can never own too many red lipsticks and this shade is different to the ones i already own. They describe this as a blood red but for me its not as in your face as most of the reds in my collection. It leaves a matt finish which can be drying and so far i have other lipsticks with better staying power so I'm not sure i would pay the £18.50 for it full price but I'd defiantly add this to my beauty box again.

My second choice was the #lipglam as I'm always on the look out for something that can sooth my lips and actually works to make them soft rather than just leaving me feeling like i constantly need to add more. This really seems to work for making my lips soft and keeping the moisture in so that I'm not constantly applying  another layer. It doesn't have any smell or taste too it and is made from 100% natural ingredients. If you do get this then be warned when it comes its pretty much solid and it took me a good 5 minutes to warm it up between my hands before i could even get it out of the tube but it has been pretty cold here so I'm guessing this wouldn't be such an issue in the summer. Lastly this leaves a gloss like finish on your lips which is sticky so for that reason i wouldn't buy it again however i will continue to use it during the winter as it does seem to really work.

So the contents of my box excluding the extra treats that You Beauty add was just over £28! That is amazing for something that costs you £6.95 including delivery.
The extras this month were a nakd bar and Dove youthful vitality shampoo and conditioner. I tried the bar and that very quickly went into the bin its just not my thing! I haven't tried the shampoo and conditioner yet but they are travel size so great for taking away with you and really good to be added in as an extra treat.

I am super impressed with his month box and i can't wait to see what next moth has in store. I would really recommend this beauty box if you like to choose what you will get and want a budget friendly option.
XOXO

You Beauty

I hope everyone has had a good weekend i have spent it relaxing with the Mr and watching a whole season of Drag Race i seriously cannot get enough of it! Anyway onto today's post which is just a quick one to show you this months beauty box.
My first choice this month was L'Occitane almond hand cream. I always need a hand cream as my hands tend to get very dry and i hate the way they feel when they are dry so hand cream is something i will always use. This is pretty small at 10ml so it will be good to pop into my handbag, you can buy a travel size 30ml from their website for £8 so this is worth about £2.60. I've used this a few times it smells nice and dry easily but it didn't wow me.

My second choice was In.Fused coconut body scrub, i chose this as nothing else really jumped out at me in this months choices and I've been looking for a good body scrub. I have only used this once since it came and it was a really good scrub, it was quite rough on the skin which i like and it smells like coffee with a hint on coconut. The Mr came in as i was using it and said i smelt like an espresso so it gets a thumbs up from him! It does look like you have been rubbing coffee or soil over you when you put it on but it washed off quite well and it left my skin feeling like had used a really rich moisturiser. I got 100g which is the trail size, you can get this from their website for £18.99 for 200g which makes this sample worth £9.50. I do like this but at £18.99 for the full sized product it's out of my price range.

Lastly my free samples this month were Lindt milk truffles and bareMinerals foundation.

I love chocolate but i not a truffle girl so these won't get eaten and i haven't worn foundation since i was about 16 so that won't be used either. The contents of my box was more than the £6.95 i paid for it but its the second month in a row that i haven't been wowed by the choices on offer, however i do like to get a monthly box and i always use the products i get so for now i will continue to subscribe.
Do you subscribe to You Beauty ? What are your thoughts on the recent choices?

You Beauty

I have had my beauty box for this month for a few weeks now but I've finally got around to taking pictures and sharing it with you. I can't say that i was overwhelmed by this months choices, i feel like was one of the worst months however there was still something i would choose. And for the bargain price of £6.95 i still covered the cost of the box with my choices.
First up i chose the DHC cleansing oil which i love, I've already gone through 2 of the small bottles of this and i was about to buy some more when it turned up in my choices this month. This is worth £4.50 for the smallest bottle but its really worth the price. It doesn't leave my face oily at all and takes of my make up easily. I have recommended this to so many people and its the only thing i will use to clean my face.

My other choice this month was the Sainsburys boutique nail polish. There was two colours to choose from and i went with a rolling stone gathers no moss which is a really deep dark green. I used this a few days after my box arrived and it was opaque with one coat and didn't take an age to dry either.

My little extras this month were dragonfly teabags, i was sent three different flavours of this but haven't tried any of them yet, a £25 hello fresh voucher card which is not something i will use and finally a sample of dove bb hair treatment.

Even though this months choices weren't the best I'm looking forward to next months box and i will continue to subscribe as i don't think you can beat the value of this box and i do look forward to my little treat every month.
Do you subscribe you any monthly boxes?
XOXO

You Beauty

I'm quite late with this months beauty box post but I've been super busy and had lots of family stuff to do so i haven't had chance to get this up before now.
I'm really pleased with this months box so first up was choice number one

I went with the Colab dry shampoo duo, i was sent London and Rio and they both smell nice and fresh although i think Rio is my personal favourite. Ive used them both and found them to be good but not quite up there with my favourite dry shampoo. These are both 50ml cans so a decent size and but small enough to fit in your handbag.
My second choice was Teeez nail polish in frosted gleam

This is a really lovely polish and once you put on two coats its pretty much opaque. I have never used this brand before but i would definitely try more from them, even the packaging is cute! This is a lovely silver glitter, you could also get a bronze coloured one but as i didn't have a silver glitter in my collection i thought i should add one.

Lastly here are my extra treats, i was sent a lindt bear which i loved and some hackers foot healer, i used one of the two samples of this i got and it did leave my feet soft so i think after a few uses your feet would be super soft! The last sample was Yardley blue orchid moisturiser i haven't used this as my skin is quite sensitive to perfumed moisturisers.
What did you choose this month?

You Beauty

My You Beauty box came this week and i wanted to share it with you. I think this months box has to be one of the best value ones that i have had.
My first pick for this month was Magnifibres brush on false lashes, i already own one of these but i really like them and if i can get them in a beauty box, rather than paying the rrp of £21, then i will jump at the chance! Once i got to grips with using these i found them really good and they do add a nice thickness to my lashes rather than length.

My second pick was a Bourjois cream blush. Again i already own this but in shade 2, i took a gamble as i wasn't sure which of the shades i would be sent. Luckily i was sent number 3 which is a lovely shade and different to the one i already own. These blushes are really easy to apply and look great on.

The extra treats this month weren't really my thing but I'm not too bothered as my picks made the box for me. The little extras this moth were samples of Merumaya cleanings balm and youth serum and a sachet of Baobab super fruit powder. I'm not sure any of the samples will get used but the rest of my box definitely will!
What did you get in your beauty box this month?

You Beauty

It's the time of month when I show you what I got in my beauty box. First up I did want to mention that I did have some trouble ordering my box which I have never had before but this month the selections opened up at 7am (previously it had been midnight) but with all the problems I didn't actually manage to get onto the page to order till after 8 which was quite frustrating.

So onto my picks this month, first up I chose the MeMeMe lip and cheek tint. I have used a similar product a few years ago but I had never bought another when I ran out. This gives a nice colour to your lips or cheeks and is easy to use but it does smell pretty strong. This has a rrp of £5.50 on the website. I tried out the tint on my lips and here it is, its a nice shade but doesn't have very long staying power. I think this works much better on the cheeks but is nice if you want a nice red lip that isn't too over the top.

My second choice was the Crabtree and Evelyn nail polish which I got in the most gorgeous shade, apple/rouge sublime. I used this the day it came and I can say it's a dream to apply and so shiny once it's on and dry. This polish is definitely something I would buy again as I think it's very good quality. This has a rrp of £6 so not the cheapest polish you can buy but it is well worth the money.

I was disappointed by the added extras this month, the first was a collagen gold drink. I opened this smelt it and poured it straight down the sink! I smells so bad and looks even worse. This is not something I would ever buy.

The second extra was a sample of cowshed night serum, I did use this but as it's an oil it left my skin greasy and an hour later it still hadn't soaked in so again not something I would look to buy. I must say the day after my skin felt very soft but it hadn't helped my dry skin patches, this might work for some of you but not me.

You Beauty

It's that time again my You Beauty box has arrived and I wanted to share it with you.

This months box was a total winner for me! My first choice this month was the Pixi waterproof eyeliner.

I have tried this and I can confirm it is waterproof and actually took some time to get off. I was sent this is black which I was pleased about as I really only use black liner. The pencil is quite small for the price tag of £11 but it's definitely worth the money. It's super soft and is easy to use and apply. You can buy this direct from the Pixi website along with loads of other colours.

My second choice was Wild About Beauty nutrilips. I didn't know which colour I would be getting in this either and when I opened it to see a nude colour I was a bit disappointed but once I tried it my mind changed. It doesn't wash me out like some other pale lipsticks and it is super moisturising. For me this is more like a lip balm with colour than a lipstick. I would love to try this is a red or pink. This lipstick had a rrp of £15 so my box was worth £26 but I only paid £6.95!

Finally here are my free samples that I was sent.

A £25 Hello Fresh gift card, probably not something I will use but great if you wanted to try the boxes without paying full price. Two tea samples which I will probably take to work with me and try, and a make up sponge.

This month we also got a full pot of Toni and Guy plumping whip. This was to celebrate You Beauty's first birthday and a really good extra in the box. Getting this too took the total cost of my box to over £30. I would recommend this beauty box to anyone, you can't go wrong for the price and you choose which items you are getting too.

Glamour Beauty Edit

A week or so ago an email popped into my inbox about a Glamour box for Latest in Beauty. Having just ordered my other beauty box i didn't think i would be getting another but i clicked the link more out of curiosity than intent to buy, but that quickly changed.
This box was £16.95 including p&p and it jam packed with amazing stuff! I knew i had to have it and very kindly my lovely Mr bought it for me.

First off I'm going to start with the items in the box i will never use, there is only two of them and its the fake tan mit and Rimmel fake tan. Now as i have mentioned many a time before i don't use fake tan. I'm the same shade as a piece of A4 paper and quite happy with that. I don't mind that i won't use these as the rest of the box is so good.

The rest of the box is just perfect for me. The main reason i wanted this box is because i have been desperate to try magnifibres as they claim to be false lashes in a tube. This product on its own has a rrp of £21 so i saved money by getting the box and i got the rest of the goodies too. I have tried the magnifibres a few times since the box came and they make my lashes so full but i haven't noticed much extra length. But i would re buy this just for the extra volume and thickness it gives.

The box also included a bourjois cream blush in 02 which is a lovely shade and its really easy to apply and gave my cheeks a natural glow. I was sent the Crabtree & Evelyn nail varnish in pink, some boxes got this in red but i have lots of red polish so it was good to get a different colour.  The lipstick i was sent was in shade Starkers, now i don't usually wear nude lipstick but i really like how subtle this is.  This is my first ever Illamasqua lipstick and im really pleased with it, it didn't leave my lips dry and it was full size too!

The final items in the Glamour Beauty edit were DHC cleansing oil which i was actually just about to re purchase so that was convenient! Toni & Guy plumping whip which i haven't used yet but i am going to give it a try to see if i can add so extra volumes to my hair. And finally it's the Hawaiian Tropic ultra radiance sun lotion in spf 30. I had actually had a sample of this the week before and used it, i find Hawaiian tropic to be a really good lotion and I'm so happy i got 30spf as i do like to be protected and anything less means i burn.
I'm super happy with is box, there are things in it i wanted to buy and now i don't have to and things that i was desperate to try without having to pay full price.
Did you get yourself a beauty box this month?
XOXO
